Partnership restarts commercial air travel between Purdue, O’Hare

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Business flights between West Lafayette and Chicago’s O’Hare Worldwide Airport will resume in 2024, Purdue College introduced Friday.

The Purdue Airport will see air service between West Lafayette and Chicago O'Hare International Airport in 2024, after the Purdue Univeristy Board of Trustees approved the measure Friday, Dec. 8, 2023..

The Board of Trustees accepted an settlement between Purdue, Surf Air Mobility and Southern Airways Specific that will restart business air service dormant for 20 years. The terminal connecting Higher Lafayette to Chicago is prone to be named after famed aviator Amelia Earhart when the board votes on the merchandise in February.

Earhart, the primary lady to fly nonstop and solo throughout the Atlantic Ocean, grew to become a Purdue college member in 1935.
